Lavazza’s new offices and Training Center in Catania, Sicily, are located on the ground and first floors of a slab–on–grade building which overlooks the street.
On the ground floor, we have: a “sharing office”, with a permeable floor plan and a large communal table for group work; the entrance/reception, with an oversized version of the coffee cup Segno which appears from a partition; two executive offices.
Behind the reception desk, the entrance area was expanded to include the vast training room, complete with rows of seats. Lavazza’s typical colours and popular images define the character of the bright training room: coffee–coloured fitted carpet, red chairs, reproductions of the photography campaign Tierra adorn the walls.
Here, the staircase is situated at the back of the building and an external staircase grants access to the first floor. The functions of the Lavazza offices, although overlapping, are thus separated.
The Training Center is on the first floor and faces the entrance with a large room for brewing and preparing coffee with fully equipped counters. The tasting room takes centre stage and thanks to doors in crystal, light filters throughout the floor, which opens onto a corridor leading to a reception room, a second room for practical teaching, a meeting room, service areas and the ”Eraclea” display area.
